New: Financial Analytics That Explain Your Numbers
FinAccounting's new financial analytics brings one-click date presets, a performance comparison table, Summary & Insights, and a revenue, expense and profit trend chart.
Most business owners do not have a reporting problem. They have a “what does this actually mean?” problem.
Today that changes. The Financial area inside Reports → Analytics has had a serious upgrade, and the new financial analytics view does more than show you figures — it compares periods for you, charts your trend, and tells you plainly what deserves your attention.
It is live now, on phone and computer, in your browser. No setup, no switch to flip.
What’s new in financial analytics
Here is everything that landed in this release, and why each piece matters when you are busy.
1. One-click date presets
This Month, Last Month, This Year, Last Year and All Years are now single buttons. Tap one and the whole screen re-reads your books for that period.
No more typing dates or second-guessing whether you picked the right range. Comparing December to December is now two taps.
2. A Yearly and Monthly performance comparison table
Totals on their own are flat. The new comparison table puts periods side by side — yearly performance and monthly performance — so movement jumps off the screen.
That is where the real questions live. Was last month genuinely better, or did it just feel busier?
3. A Summary & Insights panel
This is the headline. The panel reads your numbers and flags real cautions and real wins — the points worth a second look, and the ones worth a small celebration.
Think of it as a sharp-eyed friend scanning your books before you do.
I read the rows so you don’t have to. Open the Summary & Insights panel first — it tells you where to look.
4. A Revenue, Expense and Profit trend chart
One chart, three lines: what came in, what went out, and what you kept. Hover over any point and a tooltip shows you that point’s detail.
Patterns you would never spot in a list — a slow creep in expenses, a seasonal dip — show up immediately.
Why this matters on a normal Tuesday
Imagine Kwabena, who runs a small print shop. He used to open his reports once a quarter, squint at the totals, and close them again.
Now he taps Last Month, reads the Summary & Insights panel, and sees the caution flagged on his rising costs. He fixes a supplier problem in week one instead of month three.
Or picture Ama, who sells food at a busy junction. She taps This Year and sees her profit line pulling away from her expense line. That is confidence you can act on — hire help, buy a second cooler, raise a price.
Three questions the new view answers fast
- Am I actually growing? Compare This Year against Last Year in the comparison table.
- Where did the money go? Follow the expense line on the trend chart and hover the spike.
- What should I worry about? Read the cautions in the Summary & Insights panel first.
How to open the new financial analytics
It takes about ten seconds. Everything is already calculated from the records you have entered.
- Sign in at finaccounting.org/app on your phone or computer.
- Go to Reports, then Analytics, then the Financial area.
- Tap a preset — start with This Year.
- Read the Summary & Insights panel before anything else.
- Scroll to the trend chart and hover a point that looks odd.
If your statements are where you really live, the financial reports guide walks through your Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow too.
Pro tip: check All Years once a quarter. The long view shows things a single month never will.
Pick the right preset for the job
| Preset | Best for |
|---|---|
| This Month | Checking the month you are standing in, before it closes |
| Last Month | Your month-end review and any corrections |
| This Year | Progress against your yearly goals |
| Last Year | A fair, like-for-like comparison with today |
| All Years | The long trend — seasons, growth, slow drifts |
Pair it with the tools you already have
The insights are only as good as what you feed them. Clean records in, sharp analysis out.
Keep money in and money out current with Recording Income and Recording Expenses. Then set targets in Budget vs. Actual so you have something to measure your trend against.
For the live cash picture between report sessions, your Dashboard keeps pulling from every module in real time.
A simple monthly routine
- Day 1: tap Last Month, read the Summary & Insights panel.
- Day 2: open the comparison table and look at month against month.
- Day 3: hover the trend chart where the lines move most, and ask why.
- Then act: one decision per month beats ten reports you never read.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I find the new financial analytics?
Open FinAccounting in your browser on phone or computer, go to Reports, choose Analytics, then open the Financial area. The presets, comparison table, Summary & Insights panel and trend chart are all on that screen.
Do I need to do anything to turn it on?
No. It is already there the next time you sign in. It reads the records you have already entered, so the more income and expenses you have recorded, the richer the view.
What does the Summary & Insights panel actually tell me?
It reads your numbers and flags real cautions and wins — the points worth a second look and the ones worth celebrating — so you are not left to spot patterns on your own.
Which plan do I need?
Full accounting and reporting come with the Starter plan at GH₵99 per month, and every paid plan starts with a 90-day free trial. You can compare all plans on the pricing page.
